Chapter Eleven

(Patrice) Tracie

“So, can you ladies say something?” I asked them.

The room was quiet as I expected. I had just told my group the truth about who I was. I made sure to stress to them that my very life was on the line if this got out.

“Tracie, I mean Patrice, I mean-” Anne started.

“No just call me Tracie,” I said, leaning on my bar as they sat around me.

“You want to kill him?” Marjorie asked.

“Yes,” I answered. “Both of them. If I don’t kill Justin, he will come after me if he finds out.”

“Damn Tracie. You’re cold blooded, but I like it. Let me help,” Anne said, standing up.

“Me too,” Lisa joined in, followed by Marjorie.

All eyes went on Wendy who was tapping her nails on the counter.

“We need a plan and a good one too,” Wendy said.

“Hell yeah, that’s what I’m talking about!” Anne said, spilling her wine and jumping up.

“I already have one mapped out. I have the perfect alibi. Patrick leaves for training camp in five weeks, the day before I plan to kill the father. Then that night I will be out of town and never suspected. Justin will be so upset that he will never know that I’m planning to poison and kill him,” I told them.

“I want to help you,” Marjorie said.

“No! I can’t risk you ladies getting involved. If something happens and I get figured out, I will take the blame. I just need extra eyes and ears around me, which brings me to my next plan.”

As I ran down my entire plan to them I was jumping for joy on the inside. I saw nothing but loyalty in them. I don’t care what nobody else said, a crew of women can take over the world any day.

I watched her as she strutted to the mall entrance with a baby girl on her hip. She was so beautiful with her big yellow flower in her hair. She looked just like her mother, Rena. Rena was my childhood best friend before I moved away. I got out of my Range and followed her into Dillard’s. From the way she was throwing things into her basket, I knew she had money. Her baby girl was smiling at me when she finally looked up at me.

“She is beautiful,” I said.

“Thank you. She takes after her dad with all her silliness,” she said, pinching the baby’s cheeks, causing her to giggle insanely.

“Well she is a doll. Hey, if you don’t mind I have a question. Do you know where the Heights is?” I asked her.

“Yeah, it’s actually not far from here,” she said.

“I’m new in town and was thinking of moving there. I got good ratings,” I told her.

“Well if you can afford it, then it’s good. Hey do you want me to show you how to get there?” she asked.

“Um, sure,” I said.

I was glad she warmed up so easily but disappointed that she was too friendly. I used to tell her all the time when we were young not to be like that.
